Ornithogalum refractum
First described in 1814 in Enumeratio Plantarum Horti Regii Botanici Berolinensis. The natural range of this species extends from Hungary to the Caucasus and the Anti-Lebanon. The flower stalk, strongly curved backwards, is usually no taller than 1 cm and often even shorter. There are five to eight or more leaves, linear, up to about 4 or 5 mm wide, with white stripes. The inflorescence usually consists of five to twelve white flowers, which are green-striped when in bud.

BELONGS TO THE HYACINTHACEAE FAMILY
From the Greek: ornis (bird) and gala (milk). The genus Ornithogalum consists of a group of bulbous plants suitable for naturalization. The many species, as well as the cultivars, are certainly suitable as cut flowers.
They originate predominantly from the temperate regions of Europe, Asia, and Africa. The bulbs are said to be quite nutritious and tasty, naturally after being cooked.
