Tecophilaea

Dutch name: Chileense krokusus, also called: gentian crocus. We owe the name of this super pretty genus to the daughter of Italian botanist Luigi Colla (1766-1848) of Turin, who was given the eccentric name "Tecophila" at birth. There is also talk of it being named after the Italian botanist Tecophila Billottii.
