Crocus vallicola
Perhaps the most elegant white-flowering autumn crocus. On the inside of each petal, just above the throat, are one or two small yellow (sometimes pale yellow) markings. Occurring in western and southern Caucasus and northeastern Turkey on non-drying granite soils. The crocus should not be too dry in summer and often flowers as early as August. Vallicola means valley dweller, the crocus was first discovered in the valleys above Trabzon.
