Description

Intro: 1838. Occurring in large numbers in the Tsitsikamma forest, located on the east side of the Cape Province. The dark green, narrow leaves form a rosette. At the top of the stem form multiple clusters of star-shaped lilac-pink flowers. They prefer a sunny spot and have a long flowering period from end of May. Fairly hardy. An excellent cut flower. Nowadays mostly used as a kitchen herb: Cape garlic, wild garlic, both the leaves, flower bud and flowers are edible.
