Originates from a cross between I. histrioides var. major x I. winogradowii. The banner is blue-green, the lip is greenish blue with a hint of yellow and has blue veins. The nectar guide is yellow. The flower is quite large.

BELONGS TO THE FAMILY IRIDACEAE

Iris means rainbow, a fitting name for this genus in which we truly find all the colors of the rainbow, as well as combinations thereof. This genus consists of as many as 200 species, which occur exclusively in the Northern Hemisphere. Thousands of cultivars have emerged from these.

The underground parts consist of bulbs or (often thickened) rootstocks, known as rhizomes. The flower of an iris consists of two (main) parts: the upright part is referred to as the standard, or petal, and the downward (hanging) part as the lip or beard.
