Description
Called T. wilsoniana by Hoog. Forms of T. oculus-solis, T. stapfii or T. systola have been wrongly named T. montana. T. montana comes in many different colours and shapes and occurs in the Kopet Dag, Turkmenistan and in the Elbrus and Zagros Mountains in Iran. A perfect red tulip. Introduced by John Lindley in 1827. The flower colour is dark vermilion. The outer petals have a purple glow. The heart is black.
