Description

Perhaps the oldest described species, Rembertus Dodonaeus described the forest tulip in 1568. The oldest depiction in Europe of T. sylvestris is from 1549. Origin: Iran, North Africa and Europe, also in the Netherlands, but probably feral, native plant. One, sometimes two fragrant bright yellow 6-8 cm long flower(s) with a green glow on the outer petals. The stamens of this 30-40 cm tall tulip are yellow. AGM in 2008.
