Crocus fleischeri

Origin: southern and western Turkey. Named after Franz von Fleischer (1801-1871) who encountered the first specimens near Izmir in 1827. A fragrant crocus. The leaves are long and narrow. The white star-shaped flowers have blue-grey stripes in the center of each of the three outer petals. The throat is yellow and the three-cleft style is bright orange. Oddly shaped tubers.
