Crocus 'Yalta'

Named after the city Yalta in Crimea, because Janis Ruksans got the seed from which this beauty was selected from the Nikitsky botanical garden in Yalta. The seed came from a C. tommasinianus which had almost certainly crossed naturally with C. vernus. The silver-coloured outer petals form a beautiful contrast with the dark purple inner petals. The flower size is somewhere between that of both parents.
