Description

(Synonyms: Scilla albescens, S. cretica (?), C. nana, Hyacinthus nanus). In 1829, Josef Augsut Schultes described the crop as Hyacinthus nanus. In 1854 the name was renamed Chionodoxa and new insights would classify it with Scilla. Native to Crete at altitudes of 1700-2300 metres. Small flowers, white at the centre with lavender-coloured tips. Leaves vary in length from 7 to 20 cm.
