Origin: southern Turkey, north-western Syria and Israel. In late autumn, arrow-shaped semi-erect lightly marked leaves appear. The soft green flower sheath in this subspecies is black mottled and speckled, though not extremely so, from the centre to the apex less intense, the edges of the sheath are deep violet in colour. The spadix is purple-violet.
