Description
Intro: 1879, S. Watson. 'Red-skinned Onion', as it is locally called, is found both on dry slopes and in moist grasslands along the southern coast of California to northern Baja. The compact, globular flower umbels consist of small white flowers with a clearly visible, pink centre vein. The fleshy, green, flat leaves are the same length as the flower stem. The long, oval-shaped bulbs, have a red skin and grow together in a clud.
