Description
(Synonym: A. Eximium). Its habitat is southern Turkey, Israel and northeastern Libya. First described in 1882 by Barbey. The flower forms a semi-circular umbel and consists of glossy, purplish-red star-shaped flowers. For our gardens, a difficult species to keep because growth and leaf formation takes place before winter. There is a high risk of the above-ground parts freezing. Late planting may be a solution. The healthy bulbs come from a Dutch nursery (no import).
