Description

A beautiful species native to Iraq, Iran and Turkey, introduced in 1859, mostly growing on open plains among deciduous shrubs on steep slopes. Related to A. orientale and A. kharputense. The semicircular umbels contain wide-spread white flowers, usually with purple central veining on the petals, and are supported by sturdy 15 cm. tall stems amid the two remarkably broad basal leaves.
