Description

Intro: 1810. Origin: South East Europe and West Asia. The original form A. cirrhosum (one of the synonyms) has an inflorescence that does not just carry flowers but also bulbils. The flower bud remains ‘hidden’ for a long time at the end of the stem. When it opens, gorgeous purple bell-shaped flowers emerge, dangling on fragile stalks forming a nearly spherical umbel. After flowering, the almost dried out flowers rise up and the bracts disappear.
