Description

T. saxatilis has been known since the early 17th century. At that time it was called 'The Tulip of Candie' (Candie or Candia is the old name for Crete). Reintroduced in 1870 by George Maw. Origin: Crete. Six to twelve green leaves form a rosette. The three cup-shaped and fragrant lavender pink flowers with a yellow center and purple stamens bloom in April.
