This is a double-flowered G. nivalis with yellow markings, discovered in Cheshire as early as 1890. Something that is well known about this bellflower is its capricious behaviour. One year we see apricot-yellow markings in the double flowers, the next year those markings are simply green. No one knows why, but it is said that the colder it is, the more yellow the markings are. In any case, it is beautiful.
