Galanthus 'Colossus'
A substantial plant which is usually well past its peak before classic early snowdrops like 'John Gray are in full bloom. The leaves develop as flowering progresses, becoming broad, arching and rather flat-looking; it has more than a little merit as a foliage plant. In flower it is equally robust, often producing two very thick scapes. It was probably first offered by Phil Cornish in 1996, as G. plicatus 'Colusbourne', a name already in use for the legendary snowdrop hybrid necessitating the change to 'Colussus'. The new name was first published by Phil Cornish in his 1999 list.
