Crocus pallassii 'Ariasos'

A highly variable form originally collected among the ruins of ancient Ariasos north of Antalya. The range comes from a form selected by Václav Jošt: the flowers are fragrant, mostly five per tuber, lilac-pink. C. pallassi is named after the renowned German Peter Simon Pallas (1741-1811) fervent supporter of scientism, who contributed much to the history of the Crimean peninsula, where he ran an agricultural school.
