Each dark green speckled pale green flower stalk has two to three upright leaves composed of several oval leaflets. The flower sheath is olive green with purple edges; the inside has delicate white stripes. The S-shaped flower spike is soft green with a purple blush. They will survive a winter with moderate temperatures. In some locations, A. tortuosum can grow up to two metres high.
