Description

A sturdy yellow trumpet daffodil, division 1. Originated from a cross between N. 'Yellow Idol' x N. 'Golden Clarion' in 1968. An excellent alternative to the somewhat harder-to-obtain old varieties of trumpet daffodils.

BELONGS TO THE FAMILY OF AMARYLLIDACEAE

The distribution area is large, namely: Southern, Central, and Western Europe, North Africa, China, Japan, and scattered areas in Southwest Asia. However, the vast majority are found in Spain and Portugal.

The name 'Narcissus' is derived from the Greek verb 'narkaoo', which means to numb or to stun. The scent of narcissus was formerly considered numbing or sleep-inducing. The range has arisen from a colorful interplay of wild forms, modern varieties, and historical cultivars. The old varieties, in particular, have a strong fragrance and naturalize well, as they have proven. Especially with modern cultivars, the flowers are more colorfast and have a more perfect shape.
