Iris reticulata 'Sunbeam'
Description
Beautiful bicoloured Iris, white with yellow. The falls are bright yellow lightening to cream at the edge. Highlighted by a few large green blotches. The standards are white, with pale green ribs (sometimes dotted), hair-like.
BELONGS TO THE FAMILY IRIDACEAE
Iris means rainbow, a fitting name for this genus in which we truly find all the colors of the rainbow, as well as combinations thereof. This genus consists of as many as 200 species, which occur exclusively in the Northern Hemisphere. Thousands of cultivars have emerged from these.
The underground parts consist of bulbs or (often thickened) rootstocks, known as rhizomes. The flower of an iris consists of two (main) parts: the upright part is referred to as the standard, or petal, and the downward (hanging) part as the lip or beard.
