Iris lactea (formerly offered as I. illiensis) is native to the Balkans, where it grows in dry stony prairies. This rare species therefore withstands drought well and grows about 60 cm high . Flowers appear around May-June. The flower shape is open and light pink, overflowing to dark purple. The species is also suitable for the rock garden.
