Allium komarowii

A rarely offered allium with a compact, hemispherical, intense violet-purple inflorescence, bearing hundreds of star-shaped flowers with violet stamens on a 30 to 40 cm high stem. What is special about this plant is not just that the leaves are as beautiful as those of A. karataviense, but also that its flowers smell like chocolate. Origin: Tajikistan, the Serawschan Mountains. Named after Vladimir Leontiewitch Komarow, a Russian botanist.
